Staxyn (vardenafil hydrochloride)
Bayer Inc.
About Staxin

Staxyn is an orally disintegrating medication prescribed for erectile dysfunction (difficulties or the inability to achieve or maintain penile erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance). This medication belongs to a class known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Staxyn works by inhibiting the actions of PDE5, thereby causing smooth muscles and blood vessels in the penis to relax, which increases blood flow and therefore produces an erection upon sexual stimulation.

While Staxyn and Levitra both contain the same active chemical ingredient, vardenafil, these medications function somewhat differently. Staxyn differs from Levitra in that it dissolves on the tongue instantly without liquid rather than being swallowed. As a result, the active ingredient in Staxyn is absorbed into the bloodstream very rapidly, whereas Levitra must be broken down and absorbed by the stomach. Additionally, Staxyn is significantly less costly than Levitra.
